All Coaches and Athletes should probably the read the following rules and regulations for Saturday's State Meet. Also, see the officials.

The announcement went out this morning at 9:15 AM that this year's Virginia Tech High School Invitational will be canceled. The call was made after new weather forecasts this morning called for more snow (6-10 inches) in the Blacksburg area as well as the likelihood meet officials would be unable to travel to and from the meet in the forecasted weather conditions. There are no plans for the meet to made up, but the meet will be held again in 2011. Additionally, the meet will now be offering refunds to all entered teams in the meet.

North Carolina high schoolers were given a special opportunity today at the Eddie Smith Field House on the UNC campus. Normally, there is only 1 indoor meet actually held inside the state's borders, however, UNC graciously opened their doors to a second meet today. The fields weren't nearly as large as next week's Durham Striders HS Invitational, but that didn't limit the top performances. Here's a breakdown of the top performances based on the top US rankings.(as of 1/9/10 @ 6:00 pm)
SE Raleigh's Dannielle Davis has run 8.24 indoors in the 55m hurdles. Her time is ranked among the top 10 in the United States.

The state's largest indoor meet has huge numbers once again.

Meet may be canceled due to lack of entries!

Jake Hurysz is a new face on the national scene after his third place finish at the Foot Locker South Regional. His time of 14:46 ties him the fastest ever by a North Carolina runner on the 5K course at McAlpine Greenway Park with 2006 South Region champion and Foot Locker All-American Ryan Hill. The 3A state champion from Eastern Alamance High Schoolin Mebane, North Carolina has improved great strides from last year when he ran 15:57 on the Foot Locker South regional course. Huryz also turned in a 9:08 3200 meter time trial in between winning his North Carolina state cross country title and qualifying for Foot Locker Nationals. The UNC recruit looks to continue his stellar string of races this fall with an All-American showing on Saturday at Balboa Park in San Diego.

Large numbers of North Carolina athletes competed today at one of two meets. The Footlocker South meet was held at McAlpine Park while the NXN Southeast Regional was held at WakeMed Park.

North Carolina has a strong tradition of sending athletes onto Footlocker Nationals . . . the question is, who will it be this year? Also, can any NC athletes qualify for the NXN National in Portland?
