The course will be located in the same place as usual. The start and finish lines will continue to be on the school's recreation fields located across from Hanover Gymnasium on the campus of UNCW. All races will be roughly 5,000m in length. You will be informed of the exact race distance once the course is set but it should be nearly the same as it has been in the past.

The entry fee this year will be $75.00 per team. This fee covers your entire roster of Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Development runners. Boy's and Girl's teams are considered separate. If a school enters both a boy's and a girl's team, then the school owes $150. If you are entering less than 5 runners, the fee is $15.00 per runner. All entry fee checks are to be made out to the Seahawk Club and mailed to: Jim Sprecher, UNCW Athletics, 601 S. College Rd., Wilmington, NC 28403. Entry fees can be paid on race day at the time of packet pickup but packets will not be released without payment.

Enter any and all runners that are a possibility. There are no limits on roster size. You may add and subtract from your entry roster up until 10:00pm on Tuesday, September 8, 2009. Each team can enter a Varsity team of 5-7 runners into either the Championship or the Varsity race, a JV team or B-Team of 5-7 runners in the Junior Varsity race, and any additional runners in the Development race. We will not allow entry additions or changes on race day.

This year, there will be 8 races:
8:00a.m. Development Boys (unlimited entries)
8:40a.m. Development Girls (unlimited entries)
9:20a.m. Championship Boys (4A and more competitive smaller schools, 5-7 runners)
9:50a.m. Championship Girls (4A and more competitive smaller schools, 5-7 runners)
10:20a.m. Varsity Boys (3A and smaller schools, 5-7 runners)
10:50a.m. Varsity Girls (3A and smaller schools, 5-7 runners)
11:20a.m. Junior Varsity Boys (JV, B-Teams, less competitive schools, 5-7 runners)
11:50a.m. Junior Varsity Girls (JV, B-Teams, less competitive schools, 5-7 runners)
12:30p.m. Awards in Soccer Stadium Bleachers

While you may email us and indicate your race preference, we will ultimately determine which of the team races your school will be placed into based on last year's results and this year's preseason polls. If you truly have a situation that may require a certain race, please contact us. We will try to balance the two varsity team races with a near equal number of teams (25-30 schools in each varsity race). Select individuals not racing with their team in the meet may be permitted entry into one of the two varsity team races. Race assignments will be posted on www.UNCWsports.com and http://nc.milesplit.us/ by Thursday, September 10th at 5:00pm. 4A schools should expect to be placed into the Championship races. Starting box assignments will be in your packet upon pickup on Friday afternoon or Saturday morning.

The Awards Ceremony for all races will be at 12:30pm and will be held in the bleachers of the soccer facility. The following awards will be distributed at that time:
ľ Statues will be awarded to the individual winners of each of the 4 varsity team races.
ľ Medals will be awarded to the top 20 individual finishers of each of the 4 varsity team races.
ľ Trophies will be awarded to the winning team and runner-up team of each of the 4 varsity team races.
ľ Medals will be awarded to the top 10 individual finishers in each of the Junior Varsity races.
ľ A plaque will be awarded to the winning team of each Junior Varsity race.

Official timing for each race will stop at 30 minutes. Coaches are responsible for any timing necessary beyond that. If an athlete cannot break 30min, I would strongly recommend that they race in the Development race. While we don't want to exclude anyone, please use your best judgment when deciding whether or not someone is capable and ready to race. Be sure to also consider the heat and humidity when deciding to race an athlete. Please be sure they are prepared and plenty capable of handling both the distance and the conditions.

Each year, it can be quite warm on race day. Please be sure your athletes are properly hydrated prior to racing. We will have water coolers and cups at the finish line and refreshments will be for sale in the team camp area at the concessions stand (near the soccer bleachers). However, I strongly suggest you bring your own fluids also.

Team camps will be located inside the outer fence of the UNCW soccer complex as in the past. No team camps are to be set up outside of this area. No team camps can be set up on Friday evening as there is a home soccer match that evening at 7:00pm. Please keep your athletes off the soccer playing field itself on meet day! We also ask that your team cleans up after itself following the meets. Trash cans and trash bags will be available. Please be sure to use them.

NO shower facilities will be available at UNCW so please plan accordingly. Athletes need to stay out of Hanover Gym, Almkuist-Nixon Sports Medicine, or Trask Coliseum. Please let your athletes know this. Porta-Johns will be available in the team camp area, as well as near the track facility.

Course viewing is available on Friday afternoon from 2:00pm until 6:00pm and anytime after 7:00pm. There will be a college cross country meet taking place on the course from 6:00-7:00pm so please be aware if you are on or around the course. Please feel free to bring your team out to watch the college runners race the same course your athletes will be running the next day. You can also pick up your team packets on Friday near the finish line starting at 5:00pm. On Saturday, packet pickup will be at the entrance to the soccer complex starting at 7:00am.

We will be offering a FREE "Introduction to the College Search" clinic on Friday at 3:00pm at the UNCW track. Feel free to bring your team and listen to a few coaches speak about what they need to be sure to do when looking for a college to attend and possibly run at. For more information, give us a call at 910-962-7624. In addition, if your team would be interested in taking a campus tour, they are given weekdays at 10:00am and 2:00pm from King Hall. Please call the Admissions Office at 910-962-3243 to schedule your group.

Bus Parking will be in Parking Lots A or K near Trask Coliseum and across from the course.

Results will be available for the coaches following the conclusion of the Awards Ceremony (1 copy per school). Results will also be posted at www.UNCWsports.com, http://nc.milesplit.com, and www.ncpreptrack.com.

Once again, T-shirts will be sold at the entrance to the soccer complex. The cost will be $15/shirt and they have sold out quickly each year. Please advise your athletes to bring their money and get in line early.
